Dogs can eat bananas!
You may be wondering if dogs can eat bananas. Fortunately for your dog they can! Bananas are full of potassium, B6 and other nutrients. You can also give them to your dog with rice if their stomach is upset.
WH Foods has said “Bananas have long been recognized for their antacid effects that protect against stomach ulcers and ulcer damage. In one study, a simple mixture of banana and milk significantly suppressed acid secretion. In an animal study, researchers found that fresh bananas protected the animals’ stomachs from wounds.”
There are a variety of ways you can prepare bananas as a fun treat for your dog. You can mash a ripe banana with a tablespoon of peanut butter and freeze it in a Kong. You can also cup a banana into slices and cover them in peanut butter. Dogs of all size and breed will enjoy these tasty and healthy snacks.
Even vets agree that bananas are a healthy snack for dogs. They even recommend bananas in limited quantities for the treatment of bowel problems such as colitis. Bananas are full of enzymes that help relieve an inflamed colon and calm spasms. They also have sugars that help energize dogs with digestive issues.
Though bananas are healthy and helpful for dogs with upset stomachs, also be aware that giving your dog too much banana can actually give them loose stool. Bananas are also full of potassium which is not good for your dog in large amounts. While it is safe to give your dog a little bit of banana every day, avoid giving too much , especially not a whole banana!
