Dogs Can Eat Watermelon!
Watermelon is a great summer treat for both humans and dogs! If you are eating a refreshing slice of watermelon, don’t be afraid to share some with your dog, especially when the weather is hot. The high fluid content in watermelon can help ward off dehydration. It’s also low in calories, and has plenty of vitamins A and C, plus potassium and magnesium. Dogs should avoid eating the watermelon rind and seeds.
If your dog is new to watermelon start in moderation to make sure that eating it won’t make them sick or have a loose stool. Most dogs will love it’s sweet flavor and juicy texture. How much your dog can eat may depend on its size. A small slice is enough for a Chihuahua, while a full size labrador can several large pieces.
